The Miraculous System of the Miracle System

The quest for more info on modern farming has brought me and my team (well, actually my siblings) to the eastern belt of Peninsular Malaysia. Here, in Trengganu, a person named Mr Rosli runs a system called Miracle System (Someone said that he's the pioneer of that kind of system in Malaysia. Salute!)

Miracle sistem berupaya menghasilkan purata 8kg cili bagi setiap pokok. Bukan itu sahaja harga untuk 1kg cili di Terrengganu adalah RM8 !

The Green Dragon!

While waiting for land clearing process to be done, we had also visited a dragon fruit farm nearby.

We were impressed by the way the lady owner (on the bike) managed the farm.

The challenge begins

After the first round of field trips ended, our team commenced the project. A piece of land has been rented and the land clearing took place soon after that.

I surveyed the chilly seed suppliers and finally stepped into one of the shops in Puchong, Selangor.

A word of caution

"Don't be over excited, though", said the MARDI officer during our visit to the center. "Chillies are sensitive and they are prone to virus attacks. Make sure you take note of this", advised the guy.

Berdasarkan temubual bersama pegawai MARDI di Kedah, antara masalah yg
dihadapi adalah penyakit yg dibawa oleh virus keatas tanaman. Virus ini mampu
membawa 'kultur treat Dan Hamama'.
Kesan daripada Kultur treat / Hamama dapat
dilihat pada daun daun cili yg kekuningan dan merekot. Tiada vaksin setakat ini
yg mampu memulihkan penyakit ini, untuk mengelakan daripada berjangkit penyakit
ini pada tumbuhan lain adalah wajar untuk mencabut terus pokok cili tersebut.
Untuk mencegah daripada serangan virus, racun boleh digunakan seperti evemec
(kultur treat) dan Mafathion (hamama) tetapi harus di ingat bahawa kekerapan
menggunakan racun yg sama boleh memberi kekebalan pada virus tersebut.

Modern Farmer

What we need is a space for those bags, well-control irrigation system (through pumps) and continuous care on those chilly plants until they ripe. This roughly took 8 weeks. The idea of beoming modern farmers is now hardly irresistable.

The Green Team

I am not alone in this pursuit. We have a team. The Green Team!

Someone mentioned the "Fertigation Project" and off we went to see that project.

They planted chillies in black plastic bags. It's hundreds of bags and these bags are placed just in the front of the owner's house.

The technique is very practical.

I remember Kiyosaki mentioned " Rat Race".

In an analogy to the modern city, many rats in a single maze run around making a lot of noise bumping into each other, but ultimately achieve nothing (meaningful) either collectively or individually.

As a self-reflection, I think I am now becoming one of those poor rats. I have graduated a year earlier and now working as a trainee engineer. My buddies are computers and machines. Everyday and infact every seconds, I am just repeating the same pattern; prepare codes, checking circuits and writing reports. Undoubtedly, I may soon get a promotion but surely the cycle of job remains, prepares, checks, and reports my work to someone above me. Oh what a dull life...

I wish I had something dynamics. and something greener, from ecological point of view.

This is my pursuit for the new year, 2007.
